Direct Glazed Windscreens |
A direct glazed windscreen is where a polyurethane sealant is used to bond the new glass with the vehicle. The new glass now requires a specific amount of time to bond with the vehicle without being moved. In the majority of cases, the windscreen and back glass are in the formula for your cars strength. It is IMPERATIVE you follow instructions given to you by the auto-glass technician. (Especially in the case of a passenger side air bag)

Where a passenger side air bag is fitted to the vehicle, even more care must be taken. Up to a 15 hour wait is required. The reasons for this are as follows. - The drivers side air bag uses the steering column like a gun barrel when it deploys.
- The steering column gives the bag it's direction at the driver.
- The passenger side air bag uses a much larger bag and also utilises the windscreen to deflect the bag back at the front passenger.
If a windscreen has recently been fitted and the "NO DRIVE" time has been ignored, not only will your warranty be void, but in a worst case scenario where the passenger side air bag deploys, it will not operate as specified.
