Info for vehicles built after 1985

Since the introduction of Direct Glazed

auto-glass, the drive away time after windscreen

replacement has gone from straight away

to a 1-4 hr wait.

In case of a passenger side air-bag even more caution

needs to be taken  as the air-bag utilizes the

windscreens strength when it deploys.

If the seal isn't at full strength the consequences

could be fatal.

Minimum… 12 –15 Hrs wait is recommended when a

 passenger side air bag is fitted to the car.

This waiting time allows the new seal time to dry

and bond with the vehicle.

In the majority of late model vehicles the windscreen

and back glass are a major part of the formula for

a vehicles strength.

This is the best and only reason to listen to the

technicians advice on when the car is drivable.

Please DO NOT ignore these instructions

given to you,  Its your life at risk.

On ALL direct glazed windscreen installations

the owner or driver should always be advised of

leaving one window slightly open for the

next 48 Hrs.

This allows all doors to be closed without a

build up of air pressure inside the car.

Should this occur the air pressure will locate the

weakest point in the new (wet) seal, and push a hole

in it creating a leak for the owner.

And a problem for the fitter.
